Community Art Initiatives – Jackie Joyner-Kersee Center

The Welcome Mat at the Jackie Joyner-Kersee Center MetroLink station celebrates the inspiration and leadership of the Olympic athlete Jackie Joyner-Kersee and that of Senator Kenneth Hall in the community’s rebirth. The books of knowledge suggest the central role that education plays in the area, just as the abstracted figures in the border describe the community's pervasive spirit of people helping one another.
