Inside MetroBus

The MetroBus system is a major entity of Metro's multi-modal transit system, which serves four counties in Missouri and Illinois, including the City of St. Louis. Metro operates a fleet of 413 buses along 75 bus routes.

The Agency is committed to working towards full compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Today, Metro's MetroBus fleet is 100% ADA accessible. MetroBus routes are designed to act as a feeder system to MetroLink stations to allow synchronized transfers between bus and rail.

The MetroBus fleet consists of Gillig buses of varying sizes which seat 43, 37 and 29 passengers, respectively. The fleet also consists of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) powered Neoplan buses which seat 42 passengers. The average age of a MetroBus is seven years.

The base adult fare for riding MetroBus is $2.00. A reduced fare of $1.00 is available for customers with disabilities, seniors (people 65 years and over), and children ages 5 to 12. Children 4 and under ride free. A MetroBus Multi-Use Transfer is $2.75 for adults and $1.35 for seniors, customers with disabilities, and children.

MetroBus service operates daily. The first bus begins service at about 3:25 a.m. while the last bus completes service at about 1:45 a.m.
