The MetroBus system is a major entity of Metro's multi-modal transit system, which serves four counties in Missouri and Illinois, including the City of St. Louis. Metro operates a fleet of 409 buses throughout the region, which carry an average of 104,245 customers each weekday on 75 bus routes.
The Agency is committed to working towards full compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Today, Metro's MetroBus fleet is 100% ADA accessible. MetroBus routes are designed to act as a feeder system to MetroLink stations to allow synchronized transfers between bus and rail.
The MetroBus fleet consists of several models including larger Neoplan and Flexible coaches, that seat up to 46 passengers and smaller Gillig buses that seat up to 29 passengers. The average age of a MetroBus is 4.8 years. Metro has 38 Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) fueled buses in its fleet.
The base adult fare for riding MetroBus is $1.75. A reduced fare of $0.85 is available for customers with disabilities, seniors (people 65 years and over), and children ages 5 to 12. Children 4 and under ride free. A MetroBus Multi-Use Transfer is $2.25 for adults and $1.10 for seniors, customers with disabilities, and children.
MetroBus service operates daily. The first bus begins service at about 4:30 a.m. while the last bus completes service at about 1:00 a.m.
