Rebuilding the stairway in the northwest corner of the parking lot at the North Hanley MetroLink Station at 4398 Hanley Road in Berkeley will require closing a nearby section of the parking lot by Tuesday morning (May 21) for use as a construction staging area. The closed parking section will be barricaded by Tuesday morning and will remain closed until the project is completed in about mid-August.

The stairway that leads down the embankment from North Hanley Road to the Metro Transit parking lot will be closed within a few days to be rebuilt in compliance with requirements of the American with Disabilities Act (ADA). This will include a switchback ramp that will require the closing and reconstruction of the entire flight of stairs through mid-August.

Detours for motorists and pedestrians will be clearly marked during the construction.

Traffic lane closures begin on the Eads Bridge on Monday, October 1, 2012 to accommodate extensive rehabilitation work on the support structure of the national landmark. To avoid rush hour traffic delays, one option for commuters is taking MetroLink to cross the Mississippi River between Illinois and Missouri.

With the Eads Bridge restricted to one lane of traffic in each direction starting October 1, motorists who use the Eads Bridge will need to allow extra time for their westbound commutes between Illinois and Missouri. Unlike the trip by car from the east bank of the Mississippi River to the west bank, the commute by train from the East Riverfront MetroLink Station to the Arch-Laclede’s Landing MetroLink Station is only two minutes. There are several free Park-Ride lots located at MetroLink Stations in Missouri and Illinois so MetroLink passengers can commute to work, school or other destinations without road traffic delays. The location of all 37 MetroLink Stations and train schedules are on Metro’s website, www.metrostlouis.org or customers can call (314) 231-2345 in Missouri or (618) 271-2345 in Illinois for help in planning their commutes. 

Lane closures will be in place on the Eads Bridge until the project is completed in the fall of 2015.
