Vandeventer Bridge
In the winter of 2009, Metro demolished and replaced the Vandeventer Bridge with the primary goal of reducing customer inconvenience throughout the process. The demolition involved the replacement of an 80-year-old railroad bridge due to a host of structural issues, including cracks, settling problems, and a low clearance. The original replacement plan was scheduled for 10 days during the 2009 holiday season, but the project was finished ahead of schedule and in time to handle 2010 New Year’s Eve crowds.
Project Details:
- Start Date: December 2009
- Completion Date: December 2009
- Project Cost: $5 million
- Project Partners: HDR Inc. and Millstone-Bangert Inc.
