Changes to Weekend MetroLink Service Due to Construction Work

[ST. LOUIS, MO/May 4, 2023]  To accommodate construction work, all MetroLink trains will operate on one track instead of two tracks between the East Riverfront and 5th & Missouri MetroLink Stations beginning at 6 p.m. on Friday, May 5, through the end of service on Sunday, May 7. During this three-day period:

  • Blue Line MetroLink trains will only operate between the Shrewsbury-Lansdowne I-44 and Forest Park-DeBaliviere MetroLink Stations. Westbound Blue Line passengers will need to board a Red Line train and travel to the Forest Park-DeBaliviere Station to transfer to a Blue Line train to continue their trip. Eastbound Blue Line passengers will need to transfer to a Red Line train at the Forest Park-DeBaliviere Station. All Blue Line riders in Illinois may board any Red Line train at any station, as Red Line trains service all MetroLink stations in Illinois.
  • Red Line and Blue Line trains will operate on a 20-minute frequency. Customers may experience minor delays.

MetroLink customers should allow extra time for their trips this weekend if they need to transfer between Red Line and Blue Line trains.

An option for Blue Line customers to avoid having to transfer trains is to take advantage of free Park-Ride options at Red Line MetroLink Stations. Free parking is available at the Delmar Loop Station (362 spaces), Grand Station (60 spaces), and there are 100 free parking spaces for transit customers in the garage at the new Expo at Forest Park development, northwest of the Forest Park-DeBaliviere Station. Enter the garage from Pershing Avenue.

The single-track operation is needed to accommodate construction work at the East Riverfront MetroLink Station, which has been temporarily closed since January for renovation work, including platform improvements and the replacement of both staircases. The station will reopen once the improvements are completed later this spring.
