Metro Transit will be rebuilding the stairway in the northwest corner of the parking lot at the North Hanley MetroLink Station at 4398 Hanley Road in Berkeley which will require closing a nearby section of the parking lot by Tuesday morning (May 21) for use as a construction staging area. The closed parking section will be barricaded by Tuesday morning and will remain closed until the project is completed in about mid-August.
The stairway that leads down the embankment from North Hanley Road to the Metro Transit parking lot will be closed within a few days to be rebuilt in compliance with requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). This will include a switchback ramp that will require the closing and reconstruction of the entire flight of stairs.
Detours for motorists and pedestrians will be clearly marked during the construction.
