8th & Pine MetroLink Station Reopens on Monday, December 16

Return to Blog

The 8th & Pine MetroLink Station in downtown St. Louis will reopen to customers at the beginning of transit service on Monday, December 16. The 8th & Pine Station has been closed for several months to allow for a comprehensive rehabilitation of the 31-year-old station, including installation of new staircases, lighting, structural work and other infrastructure improvements.

On Monday, transit customers can resume riding MetroLink to and from the 8th & Pine Station and connect with important destinations nearby, including the MetroStore, Transit Access Center and the Winterfest celebration at Kiener Plaza. Metro ambassadors will be at the 8th & Pine Station on Monday morning between 6:30 a.m. and 9 a.m. to greet customers, thank them for their patience on this project, and welcome them back to the station.

The rehabilitation and improvement work at the 8th & Pine MetroLink Station are part of Bi-State Development’s commitment to improve the quality of life in the St. Louis region by making investments that better position the region for job creation and economic growth. Bi-State Development is infusing nearly $2.5 billion in capital infrastructure investments within Metro Transit, which requires no additional funding from our partners at St. Louis County, City of St. Louis and St. Clair County. Visit MetroStLouis.org/Projects to learn more about these infrastructure investments and about the new amenities and innovations that are transforming Metro services to deliver a stronger transit experience.

These investments also include upcoming construction work at the Convention Center MetroLink Station in downtown St. Louis, which like the 8th & Pine Station, is 31 years old and in need of rehabilitation and improvements. Metro Transit will temporarily close the Convention Center MetroLink Station for several months starting on Monday, January 6, 2025, for an enhancement project that includes the maintenance and repairs of station infrastructure, removal of aging escalators, and new staircase construction. The project is expected to be completed with the reopening of the Convention Center Station next spring.

Metro Transit will operate a Metro shuttle van to support customers traveling to or from destinations near Convention Center Station during its closure. The Metro shuttle van will operate every 25 minutes between the Civic Center and Convention Center Stations.
