At Metro Transit, we work every day to provide safe, accessible, and reliable transportation for everyone in the St. Louis region. A core part of our commitment is to continually enhance services like Metro Call‑A‑Ride while keeping you, our valued customers and advocates, in the loop regarding progress and updates across the transit system.

Here’s what’s new and exciting in Metro Transit this month.

Metro Call‑A‑Ride Enhancements

Delivering More Trips, Reducing Denials

We’ve made some really big strides with our Metro Call‑A‑Ride service. In November, we delivered 32,773 trips—that’s up from 23,530 trips in November 2023. ADA capacity denials dropped from 6,824 in November 2023 to only one in November! Real, measurable progress is all about serving our customers better.

Introducing Spare Technology

Our modern scheduling and dispatching software, Spare, is set to transform the Call‑A‑Ride experience. Some customers recently got a sneak peek at these new tools. They will include a mobile app for real-time trip tracking, reviewing scheduled rides, and even booking trips in the future. Currently, three Call‑A‑Ride vans are testing Spare alongside our existing system. Look out for the “Getting You There with Spare” decal on these vans. A full launch is planned for early next year—so stay tuned.

Engaging with Our Community

Transit Accessibility Advisory Committee (TAAC)

Our newly established Transit Accessibility Advisory Committee held its first meeting on November 7. This dynamic, diverse group is dedicated to helping us improve accessibility for all riders. The next meeting is scheduled for Friday, January 17, 2025, at 1 p.m. You can learn more or get involved here or by emailing us at STLMetroTAAC@MetroStLouis.org.
