Customers to Begin Using New Security Gates at Delmar Loop MetroLink Station on Friday January 3
Return to BlogMetroLink customers will use newly installed security gates to access the platform at the Delmar Loop MetroLink Station on Friday, January 3. The Delmar Loop is the second MetroLink station in Missouri and the sixth overall to complete installation of new security gates, fencing, and real-time surveillance cameras as part of the Secure Platform Plan.
Metro Transit Public Safety team members will be on-site to manually operate the gates until a new fare collection system is installed and integrated with the gating system next year. MetroLink customers must present their valid pass or transit ticket to the security officer, who will activate the gate, allowing access to the MetroLink platform. Customers are encouraged to allow extra time for their commutes while adapting to the new gate procedure.
Earlier this year, Metro Transit completed the installation of new gates and infrastructure at four MetroLink stations in St. Clair County, Illinois as part of the first phase of the Secure Platform Plan: Emerson Park, Jackie Joyner-Kersee Center, Washington Park, and College stations. The Cortex MetroLink Station gates went into service on December 20 as part of the second phase of the project in Missouri.
The installation of security gates and fencing are nearing completion at the remaining second phase stations: Forest Park-DeBaliviere, Central West End, Grand, Union Station and Civic Center. Initial implementation of the Secure Platform Plan at all 38 current MetroLink stations will be completed in January 2026.
