Flashback Friday

Return to Blog

This is a photo of the Becky Thatcher (formerly called the Mississippi III) on the riverfront with Eads Bridge in the background. The year is 1969. This riverboat served as a restaurant and museum here from 1965 to 1974.

The boat broke her mooring lines in 1969 during a storm and was swept downstream. With 100 people aboard she passed under both the Poplar Street and MacArthur Bridges and somehow escaped any severe damages.

For more on this boat, click here.

Bi-State Development continues to operate the ‘new’ Becky Thatcher on the riverfront. Be sure to check out all of the daytime, dinner and specialty cruises (yes, riverboat drag shows are a thing!) you can book by visiting the website.

Have a great weekend!
