Young people riding Metro Transit will be able to continue to save money through the end of September.

The Gateway Go Card was launched in June as a pilot program to provide 50 percent reduced fares on MetroBus and MetroLink for youth between the ages of 13 and 25 years old. The special program was originally offered through August 31, but has been extended for another month.

“The Gateway Go Card provides an incredible benefit for our young riders, and we are pleased to be able to extend it for at least one more month,” said Jessica Mefford-Miller, Interim Executive Director of Metro Transit. “This is a wonderful option for area youth as they ride Metro Transit back to school, jobs and other destinations, as we continue to work with our partners to explore ways to find funding to permanently establish the Gateway Go Card program.”

The Gateway Go Card was developed in partnership between the City of St. Louis, St. Clair County, the St. Clair County Transit District, St. Louis County, St. Louis Economic Development Partnership, Metro Transit and Bi-State Development. It is a special version of the Metro Gateway Card smart card, and young people are able to load one-ride tickets, two-hour passes and monthly passes directly onto the Gateway Go Card for half the normal price.

You can sign up for the card at the MetroStore, located at 801 Pine Street near the 8^th & Pine MetroLink Station (open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.); or at the Metro Transit Access Center, located at 317 DeBaliviere Avenue, just north of the Forest Park-DeBaliviere Transit Center (open Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.) A state ID card, school ID card, birth certificate or other proof of age is required.
