Passenger: Ron
Return to BlogPassengers like Ron depend on Metro Transit to get to work, school and other important destinations. We hope you enjoy his story, and we’re interested in your transit story too. Email mrhibbard@bistatedev.org, and we may share your story in a future “Passenger Profile.”
The only place Ron will park his car is at a Metro Park-Ride lot – anywhere else would just be fiscally unacceptable.
To keep more money in his wallet, Ron starts his work commute at the Shrewsbury-Lansdowne I-44 Transit Center and boards a Blue Line MetroLink train. From there, he rides the train to the Convention Center MetroLink Station. Ron works at the St. Louis Federal Reserve nearby.
“I know MetroLink is cheaper, that’s all I know,” he said. “I can buy a full tank of gas and that’ll last me more than a week, because I use MetroLink to get back and forth to work. If I had to drive, I would have to pay for parking too. Parking is very expensive downtown.”
In addition to not having to deal with parking, Ron also knows he’s putting less wear and tear on his vehicle by letting MetroLink do the heavy lifting during the week. While the savings on transportation is an important benefit of his commute, Ron also enjoys getting out of traffic, relaxing and leaving the driving to Metro.
“The drivers are really nice,” he said. “They do a nice job.”
