Bobby is one of our amazing operators you will see behind the wheel on MetroBus, and has been connecting our communities for more than 30 years.

“The first day out here, I was nervous. But when that first passenger got on that bus, it just all went away.”

He knows how important MetroBus is for moving people throughout the region. Many of our riders rely on us to get to work, school, healthcare appointments, and essential trips to the grocery store or other errands.

“If I’m not here to take you to where you need to be, your job is not going to get done. I’m like that missing link.”

And not only does Bobby help to get riders where they need to go, he is also recognized as a skilled driver at the International Bus Roadeo – he has been Metro Transit’s champion three times. The roadeo is an annual driving and maintenance competition hosted by the American Public Transportation Association, and includes an obstacle course to test driving skills for operators across North America.

“It’s really exciting. You’re out there, you’re doing what you do, trying to beat other operators that are just as good as you.”

Bobby credits our training department for teaching him everything he knows.

“We have an excellent training department. Metro is all about safety. That’s Metro’s number one concern. After that, everything else trickles on down. So, hats off to Metro’s training department.”

What do you like about working for Metro Transit?
We’re a team. We work as a team. Whether you’re on these units, in the supervisor’s car, or in the offices, we all work together as a team. That’s why, in my opinion, we’re number one.

What does a good day look like for you?
A good day is when I pull up to a stop, and I greet you with a good morning, and you say good morning back to me, and we’re both smiling. And, if you’re having a bad day, maybe my response to you might brighten your day.

What do you love about the bi-state region?
It’s close to Gateway International Raceway. I love drag racing and NASCAR. St. Louis is basically the heart of the United States. It’s a melting pot.

Our team members work hard to keep our region moving every single day.
