Test Driving Via Metro STL – Come Take a Ride With Us!
Return to BlogVia Metro STL is the region’s new on-demand transit service, and I went on a test drive to show you how this new service works. Since riders are not restricted to having their trips connect to Metro Transit, I went on a grocery store run from the Shrewsbury-Lansdowne I-44 Transit Center.
The new service provides an affordable and convenient way to get around parts of South and North St. Louis County. You can hail a vehicle directly from your smartphone using the Via app, and travel to any location within the service area during operating hours.
Booking a trip and getting on my way took three steps, and it was easy with the Via app!
Step 1
Getting set up was a breeze. After I downloaded the Via app on my phone, it took a few quick steps to set up my account. Then, I entered my pick-up (Shrewsbury) and drop-off locations (Schnucks) on the app. Note: If you don’t have a smartphone, call 636.251.3328 to set up your ride.
Step 2
After entering my trip, I was offered a few options for my Via trip. I picked the quickest pick-up option and booked my ride.
Step 3
After a short wait, my Via car arrived. Then, it was as simple as hopping in and meeting my friendly driver (Ryan) and enjoying the ride! Check out our test drive video below to get a first-hand look on how the new Via Metro STL service works:

Hello. The #71 bus line is ending at the end of the month. I have an ADA Gatecard to ride the bus and train. Please, tell me what I have to pay to use Via to get home and places I need to go.
Through a partnership with Lyft, $1 Lyft rides are available for riders along the #71 Patterson-Redman route. Check out metrostlouis.org/Lyft or contact Metro Transit Information at 314.231.2345 (phone) or 314.207.9786 (text) for more information.
