Your Transit Guide to Opening Day

Photo of MetroLink at Stadium StationTens of thousands from around the bi-state area will converge on downtown St. Louis to celebrate the St. Louis Cardinals Home Opener on Thursday, April 4! 

Metro Transit is a convenient, safe and affordable way to enjoy all of the thrills and excitement of Opening Day without sitting in traffic, navigating closed streets and crowds, and finding a place to park.

Metro Transit and Metro Public Safety will have additional personnel available throughout the transit system on Opening Day to assist customers.

Here is everything you need to know for Opening Day:

Opening Day Event Schedule | April 4

  • 10 a.m. | Official Opening Day Pep Rally at Ballpark Village
  • Noon | Gates to Busch Stadium Open
  • 2:30 p.m. | Pre-game Ceremonies Begin
  • 3:15 p.m. | First Pitch

MetroLink

Ride MetroLink to the Stadium MetroLink Station, which is located right next to Busch Stadium and Ballpark Village.

  • Park for free at any of 20 free Metro Park-Ride lots located at MetroLink Stations in Missouri and Illinois, and then hop on MetroLink to head downtown.
  • MetroLink round-trip fare is only $5, available at Ticket Vending Machines at all stations and transit centers – or save time by purchasing a mobile fare on Transit app.
  • MetroLink will be operating its regular weekday schedule on Opening Day, with Red Line and Blue Line trains operating every 20 minutes, and trains arriving and departing downtown St. Louis every 10 minutes.

MetroBus

Ride any of 13 MetroBus routes serving downtown St. Louis at the Civic Center Transit Center, located just three blocks west of Busch Stadium and Ballpark Village. A one-ride MetroBus fare is only $1.

MetroBus routes serving Civic Center include: #4 Natural Bridge, #10 Gravois-Lindell, #11 Chippewa, #19 St. Louis Ave., #30 Arsenal, #31 Chouteau, #32 ML King, #40 N. Broadway, #41 Lee, #73 Carondelet, #74 Florissant, #94 Page, #97 Delmar.
