  • Rail Grinding/Milling

    General track care and maintenance, including milling and grinding of MetroLink rail located throughout the system, to maintain safe and effective operations.
  • Grade Crossing Repair/Maintenance

    Renewal of grade crossings where MetroLink tracks cross area roadways in Missouri and Illinois, including 4th Street, Broadway, Ewing and Plymouth. Includes work on rail, ties, concrete panels, drainage, asphalt.
  • Contact Wire Replacement

    On-going project to replace contact wires, which are part of the overhead power system that connects with the pantograph on top of MetroLink trains to supply power to the vehicle. This wire wears down from contact and regularly needs to be replaced.
  • Hybrid Bus Procurement

    Metro Transit received nearly $10.4 million from the FTA to expand its electric bus fleet with the purchase of approximately 10 new, hybrid-diesel electric buses from GILLIG. The new hybrid diesel-electric buses have dual propulsion capabilities, allowing them to operate using electricity or fuel, and they can recharge using their diesel engines.
  • MetroLink Software Enhancements

    Upgrade of the MetroLink Supervisory Control Automated and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system that monitors and controls MetroLink train movement, traction power, track signals, and switches. Replaces and upgrades monitoring and control systems at all 38 stations.
  • Communication Network Maintenance & Upgrades

    This effort is a combination of several projects including installation and replacement of microduct fiber optic cables along the MetroLink tracks, and repairing cable anchoring in MetroLink tunnels, to strengthen train/track communications and real-time security camera surveillance.
  • New Fare Collection System
