This project is transforming Metro’s fare collection system, beginning with the installation of new validators on Metro buses for testing. The entire project will upgrade validation at all vehicles and at all transit centers, MetroLink platforms, ticket vending machines, offering easier and more convenient ways to pay and manage transit fares – including new mobile fare options and access to a pass/fare sales vendor network.

New validators are being installed on the MetroBus fleet. Testing will begin early in 2025 with mobile pass customers. A web portal (part of a later phase) will give customers the ability to manage their transit passes from their home computer or mobile device.

Transit Passes available on mobile phones, transit cards or tickets placed near the front of the validator creates a simple and easy process for Metro customers. Similar validators will provide customers access to MetroLink platforms through a security gate.
