Our reduced fare programs allow seniors, individuals with disabilities, and customers who possess a Medicare ID to enjoy a price break when riding Metro transit. Read below for more information on eligibility and how to apply.

Reduced Fare Programs

Seniors (aged 65+), customers with disabilities, and customers who possess a Medicare ID are eligible for our Reduced Fare Programs and enjoy a price break when riding Metro. If you have any questions about reduced fares, call MetroStore at 314-982-1495, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Senior Reduced Fare Permits

A Senior Reduced Fare Permit allows seniors (age 65 and older) to ride MetroBus and MetroLink for half price. Obtaining your permit is easy and free – you can apply in person at MetroStore or you may contact the Transit Access Center to apply by mail or electronically. MetroStore is located in downtown St. Louis at the corner of 8th & Pine St. (801 Pine Street) above the MetroLink station.

Permits are issued during normal MetroStore hours. Bring a government-issued picture identification card verifying your age (age 65 and older). Acceptable forms of identification include a state vehicle driver’s license, state ID, passport or alien registration card. For more information, call MetroStore at 314-982-1495.

Illinois Residents

Illinois residents who are 65 and over, or those with disabilities who are living in selected townships in Madison County, Illinois and St. Clair County, Illinois, can ride Metro at either a reduced fare or for free with the following passes, thanks to special transit funding provided by the State of Illinois.

  • SCCTD Senior Pass — issued by St. Clair County Transit.

  • SCCTD Benefit Access Program (BAP) Pass — allows passholders to ride free on Illinois MetroBus and MetroLink. Eligibility determined by the State of Illinois, visit St. Clair County Transit for more information.

  • MCT Half-Fare ID — issued by Madison County Transit and good for half fare in St. Clair County (IL) and Missouri.

  • MCT Senior Free Ride ID and Senior Select Free Ride ID — issued by Madison County Transit and good for half fare in St. Clair County (IL) and Missouri.

Reduced Fare for Individuals with Disabilities

Metro also offers reduced-fare rates to qualified individuals with disabilities who use MetroBus, MetroLink or Metro Call‑A‑Ride services.

Metro’s ADA Services department must determine eligibility for reduced fares on fixed-route MetroLink and MetroBus service, or for ADA paratransit service on Metro Call‑A‑Ride. These permits are not available at MetroStore.

On The Way With ADA

  • Metro Transit’s On The Way With ADA program provides qualified paratransit customers with free rides on MetroBus and MetroLink.

Illinois Residents

  • MCT ADA Paratransit Fare Free ID — issued by Madison County Transit and good for free rides on MetroBus and MetroLink in St. Clair County (IL) and half fare on MetroBus and MetroLink in Missouri.
